Lindsay Lohan has slapped E-Trade with a $100 million lawsuit for using her name and likeness without her permission, reports the New York Post.
The offending ad debuted on Super Bowl Sunday, featuring the preternaturally stock-savvy E-Trade baby and his milkaholic mistress “Lindsay”:
Lohan claims that the slurring baby named Lindsay in the video is modeled on her:
Lohan’s lawyer, Stephanie Ovadia, said the actress has the same single-name recognition as Oprah or Madonna. “Many celebrities are known by one name only, and E-Trade is using that knowledge to profit,” Ovadia said…
Ovadia wants an injunction to force the spot off the air, and the Lindsay camp wants every last copy of the commercial.

We pulled up this photo of Lohan from her Parent Trap days and do see a slight resemblance. But when we saw the video on SuperBowl Sunday, we certainly didn’t think of Lohan. This seems like a good time to quote Carly Simon: You’re so vain. I bet you think this ad is about you.
Lohan wants E-Trade to pay up:
Ovadia said E-Trade has violated Lohan’s rights under New York state civil-rights law and used her “name and characterization” in business without paying her or getting her approval.
The lawyer said that since the spot was seen by hundreds of millions of people watching the Super Bowl and Winter Olympics finals, the firm has garnered great profits.
She says Lohan is owed $50 million in exemplary damages, plus another $50 million in compensatory damages.
A spokesman for the company that created the ad for E-Trade told the New York Post that it “just used a popular baby name that happened to be the name of someone on the account team.”
Lohan’s lawyer is Stephanie Ovadia, whose previous clients, according to her press page, include victims of Vampira, a 15-year-old Queens girl who waged a series of bloody “vampire attacks.”

What happens when Dems remain silent on national security issues? Someone steps into the vacuum and fills the void. In this case, it’s Lindsay Graham.
GOP Sen. Lindsey Graham confirmed Monday he is working with White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel to break the logjam on closing the military prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and bringing the prisoners to trial.
The South Carolina senator said that in a series of meetings and phone calls over the last “several weeks,” he has pressed to establish a new national security court that would keep most Guantanamo detainees out of the federal courthouse….
“I think Rahm has always understood Gitmo is like fly paper,” Graham said, explaining that every politician who has approached the prison has ended up stuck. Closing it is “the pragmatic thing to do in the overall war [on terror]. It’s an image problem for the United States and a practical problem, having a jail where presidents don’t want to send anyone. But a solution has got to be bipartisan. There’s no way the Democratic Party is going to walk off a political cliff here without Republican support, nor should they.”
Granted, Lindsay Graham seems to have some strange hold over Emanuel.
Two weeks ago, The New Yorker’s Jane Mayer, citing anonymous sources, reported that Rahm Emanuel vehemently opposed Eric Holder’s decision to try the accused 9/11 defendants in a civilian court. Mayer quoted her source explaining that Emanuel was particularly worried about angering GOP Sen. Lindsey Graham, who opposes civilian trials: ”Rahm said, ‘If we don’t have Graham, we can’t close Guantánamo, and it’s on Eric!’” Today, The New York Times‘ Jodi Kantor and Charlie Savage have Emanuel on the record saying essentially the same thing:
Mr. Emanuel, who favored a military trial for the Sept. 11 detainees, said his disagreement with Mr. Holder is rooted in different perspectives, not personalities. “You can’t close Guantánamo without Senator Graham, and K.S.M. was a link in that deal,” he said, referring to Mr. Mohammed.
Can someone please explain why Guantanamo can’t be closed if Lindsey Graham gets angry? I genuinely don’t understand that. By what mechanism can Lindsey Graham prevent the closure of Guantanamo? I’d really like to hear an explanation how that works. How can a single Senator in the minority party override or prevent the President’s Order to close this DOD facility?
He can do so in part because no one among the Democrats is stepping up to back up Holder in this argument, including, it would appear, his boss regardless of campaign promises and executive orders.
After “all these years” Lindsay Lohan is finally owning up to her hellish behavior from a few years back. Aren’t we all glad?
