With over 100 advertisers (and counting) abandoning Glenn Beck’s show, it’s obvious that what’s left is the dregs of the world, like these guys. But the gold dealers dominating the ranks of his advertisers have new competition:

Yup. All those Beck viewers are suckers, because their gold stockpile will be worth less than seeds! But that’s not all! You know how Obama wants to steal your guns and shit? That’s not all he’s trying to confiscate!
Phew! That’s a relief. Because as we all know, the Second Amendment protects an American’s right to bear arms … and seeds! Then again, no seeds are truly indestructible. They are, after all, living things. The Glenn Beck patriots can’t just wait for the apocalypse, and then plant them in the ground.
Of course, they don’t need to wait long. Obama is obviously a one-termer, so will need to trigger the end of the world before Sarah Palin can take him out in 2012. So we’re pretty much talking two years before the End of Times. Better to start planting now, before the first nukes strike.
They they better hope the apocalypse happens during rainy season, because it’ll be tough to irrigate a whole acre without electricity. (And that’s assuming they don’t need municipal water.)
On the plus side, they won’t have any trouble with fertilizer.
p.s. Given that they are a Glenn Beck advertiser, this should go without saying, but yes, they’re a scam.
In early February, it became one of those intriguing little political stories that gets 30 seconds at the end of the national evening news. You might recall that it was then that some enterprising Republican business owners erected a billboard along I-35 in Minnesota featuring George W. Bush’s grinning visage and three critical words: “Miss Me Yet?”
Well, according to a new poll conducted by John Zogby on behalf of the right-wingers over at Newsmax, the answer to that question is…well…no. (Hat Tip: Taegan Goddard):
In case you were wondering, a new Zogby/Newsmax poll shows President Obama would beat George W. Bush in a hypothetical match up, 48% to 38%.
One has to guess that was not the outcome that Newsmax was hoping for when they contracted Zogby to conduct the survey. The numbers, while not necessarily a landslide, still do an enormous amount of damage to that article of faith among right-wingers that Obama is the least popular president in the history of the republic, and that his presidency will somehow usher in a period of nostalgia for the days of W.
The data, it would appear, indicates otherwise.
At the end of February, Conan O’Brien joined twitter, and his account, @ConanOBrien, exploded with followers. On Friday, O’Brien decided to follow his first twitter user:
I’ve decided to follow someone at random. She likes peanut butter and…
Top 10 lists are usually reserved for the end of the year in publications. You know, like the year-in-review-style writings that popped up in this paper before Christmas break began. Top 10 lists are fun for everyone. You can disagree with the…
The night we have all been waiting for finally happened. The Bachelor, Jake Pavelka, picked his future wife, Vienna Girardi. We all knew this was coming but watching him break Tenley’s heart was SO incredibly sad. I am going in the complete opposite direction from when I started watching this season’s The Bachelor. I think [...]
Despite all parties going into this week’s health care summit with the best of intentions, in the end, little progress was made, as Republicans spent much of their time refighting old wars and playing to the cameras.
Faced with this unrelenting obstruction, Democrats now say they may be forced to take the unprecedented step of using reconciliation to pass health care reform.
If only they’d thought of this sooner.
“I said I was neutral and all that, [but] I got a problem with that.”
“I’m going to win because the people know what’s right.”
I considered those rich periods of life lost to anxiety and compulsive coping behavior. At the end of our life would we be inclined to say, “if I knew it was going to end, I could have enjoyed it?”
For now, part of curling’s appeal to mainstream American fans appears to be its image of unfamiliarity, but USA Curling is trying to change that.
Rep. Patrick Kennedy’s (D-R.I.) retirement may serve as a symbolic end of a political era but for those still captivated by America’s version of Camelot, there’s hope. The list of prospective Kennedy clan candidates, it seems, runs deep.

Two very different but ultimately very aligned versions of GOP mendacity were on display this week. At one end stands Newt Gingrich. A former college history professor, Gingrich is articulate and knowledgeable. But that didn’t stop him from misrepresenting shoe-bomber Richard Reid’s citizenship in an effort to paint President Obama as a soft-on-terror “radical” — or tie logic in knots trying to justify his “mistake” after the fact. At the other end of the spectrum is Sarah Palin — so clueless she feels the need to make crib notes about boilerplate talking points. She too is willing to completely discard truth, evidence, logic, and the facts to score cheap political points. These two appear destined to compete for the 2012 Republican nomination. Or perhaps they can join forces and form a veracity-vanquishing dream ticket — two peas in a prevaricators’ pod.
On last night’s episode of Real World D.C. Mike had his first date with Eric. I think they are cute together and can definitely learn a lot from one another. Mike says he is bi but he is so incredibly awkward around girls that he really just seems gay. It must be tough to come [...]
